Halloween Pumpkin Decorations

In true halloween fashion I have yet again donned the pumpkin theme for you all. This time I have made some pumpkin hanging decorations out of card. I am loving their faces and they look eggspecially good hanging from the curtain rail in my living room against my grey curtains.

Work In Progress

I wanted to show you my current work in progress, but apparently I have yet to master the standard camera on my Iphone and appear to have lost all knack for photography! Oh well, its the thought that counts, so here is what I'm working on:

How it started this evening:

How it finished:

It's amazing what a lick of white paint can do. Despite the first picture looking somewhat orange, the shelf was actually quite dark to begin with.

I have a couple more furniture bits to be getting on with, but both take up a bit of space and as winter draws in, I dont really want to be anywhere in the house other than our cosy living room, brrr!

Sprucing Up a Handbag

I cracked open my Super Badge It maker again today, this time to make badges for a handbag I picked up today at a vintage market. Ages ago I bought some Cath Kidston fabric samples from John Lewis so I set to using these to make some Cath Kidston badges to to spruce the handbag up. This is how it started:

Striped Handbag

Don't you just love the rope handles? This is how it looks now.

Cath Kidston Bag

This will definately be an ongoing WIP, I will now be looking for brooches, badges and charms to add to the bag. I'm going for a real Accessorise look.

For The Iphone User...

I apologise if you dont own an Iphone, this post is aimed specifically to Iphone owners. However if you are on the market for one, this may help :)

Iphone owners, if there is one App I would urge you to buy (apart from Angry Birds) it's this:

Plastic Bullet App

Take one picture and the app automatically generates loads and loads of vintage, quirky versions, which look like they have been taken on a toy camera! I have really got into toy camera photography lately and this app is definately one to have.

Here are a few examples of pictures I have taken with this app:

Plastic Bullet
Lomography

See, what did I tell you, amazing pictures at the touch of a button! Amongst all of the photography apps I have, this one is the best hands down!

Autumn At It's Most Brisk!

Today in the UK has been the briskest Autumnel day so far this year! With the exception of early afternoon which was like some sort of windy heatwave, the rest of the day has been so cold that people are donning the rosy cheek look! I think everyone in the UK would have mentioned the weather at least once today.

In keeping with the Autumn theme I was inspired to rekindle my love of conker fights and make a little felt conker, complete with string!

Felt Conker Embellishment

I think in spite of his cute face, he could still kick some conker butt!

Radio 1 Lincoln

On a slightly different note, me and a group of mates were lucky enough to get tickets to Radio 1's Zane Lowe's coverage of 30 Seconds to Mars' gig at the Engine Shed in Lincoln last night. It was amazing! I am quite height deprived being a mere 5'3" but we managed to get riiiiiiight near the front, slap bang in front of Zane and had a brilliant view all night. It was such a buzz being a part of live radio. 30 Second to Mars were absolutely amazing live, Jared Leto's voice was amazing live!

Fluffy Halloween Pumpkin

Halloween Pumpkin
BOO!

Halloween isn't all gore and frights. By using some fluffy fluff wrapped round a polystyrene ball I have created a cute but scary pumpkin decoration.

When I say decoration, I mean fluffy hand comforter :P

Gothic Necklace Just in Time for Halloween!

Want to make some gothic jewellery in time for halloween? Get yourself some patterened net tights and wrap them around said jewellery. I chose a multi strung beaded necklace. It took ages, but after cutting thin lengths of tights and wrapping them around each string of beads, I ended up with a wicked Gothic looking necklace!

Halloween Necklace

Terribly to photograph mind you, and would benefit from having been done with either black tights.

Gothic Jewellery

Try using white tights for that mummified look!

Birthday Present!

OH was on top form this year with my presents. I woke up at 7am demanding to open my presents, dispite not actually being able to open my eyes. I must have looked like the undead unwrapping my presents! My main present was a sewing machine! Finally, one of my very own! I can't wait to have it pride of place in my craft room.

Brother Sewing Machine

It's a Brother XL 5500 15 stitch. I tried it out tonight and make OH a token gesture of a stuffed heart. For some reason I can't seem to set it up right. I can't make the machine sew slowly using the footpedal. I press on it, it makes the right noises, but nothing happens. Then as I press it further and further in, it suddenly speeds off so far that I can't keep up with it! I have no idea how to sort it :(

I am so proud of OH, he made sure he was careful to hunt for the bargains when buying the sewing machine and was rewarded with a plethera of freebie. A set of 5 pairs of sewing scissors and 50, yes 50 reels of polyester thread!

Polyester Thread Free

My other presents consisted of lots of Cath Kidston goodies! A box file, two mugs and a sewing tin. I <3 them all :D

I think I was well and truly spoiled this year :D

Christmas Bell

I bought a bit of a job lot of polystyrene shapes off ebay the other day and then discovered it is (fairly) easy to cover them in fabric! All you do is make grooves and push the fabric in. It took me about two hours but I made a rustic bell christmas tree decoration!

Polystyrene Bell
Polystyrene Bauble

I think if I had had some old looking jingle bells these would finish it off a treat!

It's my birthday tomorrow so I doubt I'll be posting. See you at the weekend!

Paper Plate Clock

Cupcake Clock

When I saw Paperchase's cupcake range I spotted their matching paper plates. I fell in love and somehow immediately thought 'I want to make them into a clock!', strange thought I know, and usually I have these thoughts and not actually do them, but this time I did!

Cool huh? Now everywhere I go i'll be looking at paper plates admiring their potential! Perhaps there will be paper plates on Friday - my 25th!! Being my 25th im pretty sure there will be no time for jelly and ice cream :P

P.S. This is my first ever scheduled post! I'm so organised I actually got this made, photographed and blogged Sunday night. I actually feel dirty!

Simple Christmas Card Using Sizzlits Love Letters Die

I recently bought an alphabet die for my Big Shot to help with my lack of confidence adding sentiments to cards. I chose the Sizzlits Love Letters Die as the font looks quite universal. To test the die out I made this simple christmas card.

Sizzlits Love Letter Christmas Card

I actually found the die quite tempermental as it has a foam backing making it quite thick. Sometimes the 'H's didnt cut fully and I couldnt quite decide if the die was happy on the tab the big shot platform indicated to use. I'm contemplating taking the foam off but I'm worried it has a irreplaceable purpose. Any ideas?
