A Quick Catch Up!

Hello! It's been forever since I have had time to blog. I bought into the whole 'book 3 days holiday get 11 days off' offer and I have just been the most busiest person since my last day at work.

First of all we went to Portsmouth for a wedding reception and stopped there a few nights to basque in the Southern Sun. The wedding reception was on a chartered boat which was a brilliant experience. The boat went on an evening cruise along the coast line while the on board bar and DJ entertained us.

For the next couple of days we explored Portsmouth with family and saw some amazing (Pirate) Ships. The weather was amazing while we did this and it was great to see blue sea everywhere we went (I'm more used to the deluxe grey sea).

We had to cut the long break short because we were informed that one of our rabbits, Dibley, had decided to make a break for it by chewing a hole in the back of his hutch and running off. Unfortunately we haven't seen him since so we have come to assume the worst (however I still leave a bowl of food out in the garden in case he comes back).

In no particular order other than remembering these events, I have also been:

- hitting the shops - Hobbycraft, Paperchase and Ikea
- on pregnant lady watch as my best friend is now 10 days overdue with her first child and I hate the thought of her being alone while her husband is at work.
- trying on bridesmaid dresses as I am head bridesmaid for my sister
- going to Sundown Adventure Land or Pets Corner as we used to know it, to relive my childhood
- going out in town for a friend's birthday dressed as a St Trinian
- watching the end of the Royal wedding then plus 1-ing the beginning of the wedding

and the most recent is attending a KFC garden party inspired by the latest KFC advert. This involved two separate trips to KFC and a grand total or around £140 being spent on KFC alone (in two trips). This was the first trip:

Surprisingly this left half of us wanting seconds (if we look at this objectively it was probably the slow eaters).

I haven't really had much enthusiasm to craft but I do have a couple of things to show you.

First of all is a purchase from HobbyCraft that made my heart skip a beat when I saw it. I may have mentioned before how I love the colours of the rainbow right? Well...

I am so lucky the space in between my desk and my wall was exactly the right size for this beast!

I also have this to show you from the Easter Paperchase sale. I love it when Paperchase's items go out of season because then I can buy them and use them to decorate my house :D

She is now sat on my kitchen windowsill as a non Easter decoration.

The one thing I have been slowly crafting is an owl cushion for my aforementioned pregnant best friend. However it has been a slow process because I have that feeling something is missing but I cant quite pinpoint what.

Do you have any ideas?

Anyway, that's me all talked out for the day. I have lost of supplies from HobbyCraft and Ikea to get me started on crafting again but I wont promise anything will be showcased too soon.

Make Your Own Polaroid Pictures

Is it just me or do pictures look so much better in Polaroid format? I think its because the white border makes the photo stand out from its surroundings. It is easy to recreate the Polaroid look with your digital images (you know, those pictures you take on your digital camera, upload to Facebook, then never look at again).

All you need to do is re size your photos to around 3-5 inches big, and print them out (preferably on card). Then all you need to do is cut a 0.5cm border along the top and sides, and a 2cm border along the bottom and voila, an instant photo for your noticeboard.

Polaroid Paper Frame

You can even make a stand for your photo. Just cut out a shape similar to this (you can be as ornate as you fancy).

Frame Leg Shape

Fold along the dotted line and glue this tab to the back of your photo.

Voila!

Card Polaroid Frame

I can't wait to make loads of these up and peg them to a length of string, like a photographer does in their dark room.

AWOL

I've been a little bit AWOL this week, I think the sunshine has distracted me a lot. I have been very busy though, this feels like the first time I have sat down in a while (however it's not because I sat for 1 hour last night and watched the final One Born Every Minute). I've been for a meal at Pizza Hut with friends, been on a 'Dealing With Difficult Situations' course, been to a farm with OH and played on the park, had a meal with OH, been in town trying to find summer clothes (being very unsuccessful), had a BBQ with family and started up at the gym again! So I've not had much time to craft. I have been able to cram in making up some more stars for my friends soon to be born baby.

And I also won the giveaway over at Victoria's Vintage A beautiful necklace which I love (especially it jangling as I walk) and some extra goodies:

Thank you very much Vikki!

Well that's my week, now for another weeks silence :P

Adding Some Personal Touches

I have started to make personal touches to display in my craft room. I nearly wee'd myself when I spotted some cream box frames in Sainsburys on offer at £1.20 each. I grabbed the last one and then stumbled across two hidden elsewhere in the shop so snapped them up too!

The first one I have used to frame a heart I have made out of buttons. I only used double sided foam to stick them down as I couldn't live knowing they were permanently stuck down in case one button I have chosen to frame is perfect for something I make!

Button Heart Picture Craft

I hope all you mothers had a great day yesterday. I don't celebrate it myself but I look forward to having a child of my own to celebrate it with :)
