Wallpaper Samples - The Free Crafting Material

I use wallpaper samples for a lot of my wooden ventures. Most DIY stores I have visited have a roll of each of their wallpapers opened, available for you to tear off a sample strip. Obviously it is good for you to not take too much, but sometimes taking a strip can leave you with a lot to craft with.

I was in The Range the other day and spotted some wallpaper I really liked. I tore off a half metre strip as I knew just what I was wanting to do. I found three frames I liked whilst there, and for the first time ever, I made what I planned to do as soon as I got home (I tend to have things lying around for weeks upon weeks!).

So, here's my sample of wallpaper:

As you can see, it has a cure bird cage design on it. Here is the frame I chose:

To turn this into a beautiful picture, remove the back of the frame so you can place the frame over the design.

Once you have decided on the best position for the picture in the frame, place the glass over the picture and draw your cutting like around it.

Then all you need to do is put the picture in the frame and voila!

I made three framed pictures using the three different bird cages on the wallpaper.

Not bad for the price of three frames! I love free stuff!!

  1. Brill! That looks really effective, and well done on completing it straight away, I never do that either.

  2. These look really good, I always plan to do things and rarely get it done when I get home! I may have to pop to the range and get a few samples myself!

  4. That's a great idea, and such lovely pictures too (I also love the frames!).

I did exactly this when decorating my son's room when he was born, such a cheap & effective way - the wallpaper I got matched his bed linen ;)
